colorls-4.0: description + notes

colorls is the ls program (and friends dircolors, dir and vdir) as distributed with the GNU Fileutils package.

This Freeware package installs four programs in /usr/freeware/bin: gnuls, gnudircolors, gnudir and gnuvdir, and installs a symbolic link from gnuls to colorls. It also installs man pages for all four programs. See the individual man pages for details on each program.

Notes:

  1. This package only installs the above four programs from the GNU Fileutils package, and their man pages. It does not install the GNU info file associated with the Fileutils package.
  2. All binaries are installed with the prefix ``gnu'', so they will not conflict with the full Fileutils package we distribute as SGI Freeware.
  3. This colorized ls program is not the same as the colorls program available from the FreeBSD ports collection.

Vince Levey configured and built this package for IRIX 6.x.
